Tips for Taking Care of Your E-Bike Battery This Summer

The battery is the heart of your smart e-bike. To ensure your Tezeus e-bike maintains peak range during high-temperature months, proper maintenance is essential.
Taking good care of your battery doesn't just ensure a smoother ride; it also extends its overall lifespan, saving you money in the long run. Here are some practical tips to keep your battery healthy.
1. Avoid Extreme Heat

Batteries and extreme temperatures do not mix well. Summer heat can degrade the chemical components inside your battery faster than usual.
- Park in the shade: When stopping for a coffee or running errands, try to lock your bike in a shaded area.
- Never leave it in a hot car: Direct sunlight inside a closed vehicle can create oven-like temperatures, which can permanently reduce battery capacity.
- Charge at room temperature: Always bring your battery indoors to charge in a cool, well-ventilated space, ideally between 10°C and 25°C (50°F to 77°F).
2. Smart Charging Habits

The golden rule for daily e-bike care is simple: always charge your battery before you head out, and avoid riding on an empty or critically low battery.
- Charge Before You Go: Make it a habit to plug in your Tezeus battery the night before a long commute. Starting your day with a healthy charge ensures you have full motor assistance when you need it most.
- Avoid the extremes: Try to keep your battery charge level between 30% and 80% for daily use. Constant full discharges put unnecessary stress on the battery cells.
- Don't leave it plugged in forever: Disconnect the charger once the battery reaches 100%. While our smart chargers prevent overcharging, leaving them connected for days at a time isn't ideal.
3. Storage Tips for Extended Breaks

4. Cleaning and Maintenance
Keeping your e-bike clean is important, but you need to be careful around the electrical components.
- Remove the battery before washing: Always take the battery off the frame before cleaning your bike.
- No power washers: High-pressure water can penetrate the seals of the battery case or the connectors. Instead, use a damp cloth to wipe down the exterior.
- Keep connectors dry: Ensure the battery docks and terminals are completely dry before reattaching the battery to the bike.
